Board of County Commissioners
- The BoCC approved the minutes from the en banc meeting on April 4, 2024, and the regular meeting on April 10, 2024.
- Commissioners approved a proclamation declaring May 5-11, 2024, as Correctional Officers Week.
- The BoCC approved a proclamation declaring May 2024, as Bike Month ICT.
- Commissioners proclaimed May 2024, as Lupus Awareness Month.
- The BoCC declared May 2024, as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
- Commissioners appointed Greg Kalkwarf and David Thorne to the Emergency Communications Community Advisory Board.
- The BoCC appointed Dr. Brent Nelson to the Fifth District Citizens Advisory Board.
- Commissioners held a public hearing and adopted the National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition.
- The BoCC held a public hearing on Item K: Zone change request from Single-Family Residential to a PUD Planned Unit Development to allow commercial office use in the area of East Harry St. and South 127th East. Following comments and deliberations, the Commission voted to defer action on this item for one week.
- Commissioners deferred Item L: Resolution creating new policies and procedures regarding Community Program Funding requests – for one week.
- The BoCC received and filed the quarterly financial report.
- Commissioners approved recommendations from the Board of Bids and Contracts’ meeting on April 25, 2024.
- No binding action was taken in executive session.

- The Sedgwick County Extension Office, 7001 W. 21st N., hosts the Kansas Grown! Farmers Market every Saturday through Oct. 26, 2024, from 7 a.m.-noon. - Wichita State University’s Shocker Rowing is hosting the annual Plains Regional Regatta on the Arkansas River Sunday, May 5, 2024, starting at 8:30 a.m. Teams will set up south of River Vista, in the Delano Park area, and races will start every ten minutes or so, finishing at River Vista. - Groundbreaking for the Wichita Biomedical Campus is Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. on the southeast corner of Broadway and William Street. Wichita State University, WSU Tech and the University of Kansas are collaborating to build a $300 million facility downtown to offer healthcare services, education, research and technology.
