Outpatient Services (OPS) provides an array of mental health services designed to help adult residents of Sedgwick County (age 18 and older) improve their quality of life. A strong emphasis is placed on helping clients and their families avoid the need for more intensive and expensive treatment. It is estimated that close to 80% of mental health issues respond well to treatment (National Institute of Mental Health). The professionals at OPS strive to help individuals identify their treatment goals to try and help people function at his/her highest level. Treatment is based on a collaborative model where the client is viewed as an integral part of the process, including participation with staff in the development of measurable treatment goals and outcomes that guide treatment.

Outpatient Therapy Clinic

Services offered through the Outpatient Therapy Clinic include individual and group therapy for a wide variety of emotional illnesses or concerns. Issues addressed in treatment range from severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and major depression to an individual’s experience of anxiety, depression or life adjustment issues that might include divorce, deterioration of health, or grief. The length of services is determined by clinical necessity and can range from time-limited sessions to more extensive treatment for persistent mental health concerns.

Stress/Anger Management

COMCARE offers a 12-week educational group for persons who have a legal obligation for domestic violence. This group is offered throughout the year and is paid for by the individual and is not covered by insurance.

Case Management

COMCARE’s Outpatient Services also provides non-traditional, short-term, goal-directed case management support to clients. These services are available to individuals whose emotional well being may be having a negative impact in other areas of their life.
