Arena Sales Tax Committee
The Sales Tax Oversight Committee is a group of 10 citizens appointed by commissioners for the purpose of reviewing Arena Sales Tax revenues and expenditures and ensuring the public that taxpayer dollars are being used properly in accordance with the purposes for which the Arena Sales Tax was authorized.
The committee was created to oversee revenue and uses of it only during project design and construction; in accordance with the resolution creating the committee it disbanded February 8, 2010 – 30 days after the grand opening of the facility.
Arena Sales Tax Earnings:
The one percent sales tax began July 1, 2005 and continued for 30 months. The original projected revenue was $184.500 million; the revised projected revenue was $205.500 million; and the actual revenue was $206.538 million. The County received receipts from the state through the end of February, however, the sales tax ended at the end of December 2007.
