Sedgwick County Advisory Board Meetings

which generally requires all discussion to be held in a setting that is free and accessible to the public.

Ad Hoc Task Force for Chronic Homelessness

On August 9, 2006 the Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners created an Ad Hoc Task Force on Homelessness. The taskforce’s charge is to study the problems created by homelessness and to create a plan to eliminate homelessness in our community.  If you have more questions about the meetings please contact the Sedgwick County Managers Office, at 660-9393.

Ad Hoc Task Force on Developmental Disabilities and Mental Illness

On March 22, 2006 the Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners created an Ad Hoc Task Force on Developmental Disabilities and Mental Illness to study and make recommendations on matters relating to the challenge created by the reduction in the number of persons served by state institutions and service and funding gaps for individuals with dual-diagnosis.  If you have more questions about the meetings please contact Chad VonAhnen, Director of CDDO, at 660-7630.

Sedgwick County Physical and Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board

This board meets at 8 a.m. every second Wednesday of the month at the Ark Valley Lodge, 615 N. Main.  During the months of February, May, August and November, the board will meet at noon.

New Frontiers Transition Council

The council will meet at 3:30 p.m. at the Ark Valley Lodge, 615 N. Main on the following dates:

Community Council

Solid Waste Management Committee

The committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the County Extension Offices, 7001 W. 21st St. N., Wichita.

Sedgwick County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

In February 2004 the Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners created the Sedgwick County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC).  The CJCC is committed to serve as the planning body for the Criminal Justice System in Sedgwick County.

The principal mission of the CJCC is to study the Sedgwick County criminal justice system, identify deficiencies and formulate policy, plans and programs for change when opportunities present themselves.  In addition, its mission is to communicate and present planning, financial, operational, managerial, and programmatic recommendations to the agencies represented on the CJCC.

Meetings are held at 10 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month in the County Manager’s Board Room, third floor of the County Courthouse.

There are 14 voting members of the CJCC who are members due to the position they hold.  These 14 members serve on the CJCC for as long as they occupy the position:

·         Chief Administrative Judge, 18 Judicial District (Michael Corrigan)

·         Chief Administrative Judge, Municipal Court of the City of Wichita (Jennifer Jones)

·         Sheriff of Sedgwick County (Gary Steed)

·         Chief of Police, Wichita (Norman Williams)

·         District Attorney, 18th Judicial District (Nola Foulston)

·         Chief Public Defender of Sedgwick County Steve Osburn)

·         Chief Prosecutor for the City of Wichita (Mary McDonald)

·         Director of Sedgwick County Department of Corrections (Mark Masterson)

·         County Manager (William Buchanan)

·         Two members of the Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners (Dave Unruh and Kelly Parks)

·         One member from the Wichita City Council (Carl Brewer)

·         Director, Department of COMCARE of Sedgwick County (Marilyn Cook)

·         Director of Public Safety, Sedgwick County (Bob Lamkey)

Civil Service Advisory Board

This board will meet at 9 a.m. at the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office, detention conference room, 141 W. Elm, Wichita on the following dates:
January 8, 2008
April 8, 2008
July 15, 2008

2008 Team Justice

This group will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the first Friday of each month at Sedgwick County COMCARE, 635 N. Main

The Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging

The Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging meets at non on the second Wednesday of every month.  This Council is made up of 15 members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.  Each Commissioner has three appointees.  

The Council makes recommendations concerning Sedgwick County Aging Mill Levy funds and act as advocates to the older adults in Sedgwick County.
