Sedgwick County paramedics are required to maintain
state certification by attending at least 60 hours of continuing medical
education every two
years. The Training Division of EMS provides many of these hours to each
technician.
We use classroom methods with a 2:1 ratio for many of these hours. Advanced
Cardiac Life Support, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life
Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and
other classes are available during the year on a larger scale. Most of the local hospitals
provide monthly or quarterly contact hours to review specific medical and trauma related
cases.
