Point of Dispensing Training
Sedgwick County has identified multiple Points of Dispensing (PODs) to serve the needs of the population. PODs are designed dispensing locations for persons who are currently healthy but may have been “exposed” and need prophylactic (preventive) medication. The community will be notified through news outlets if they need to receive medications. PODs are sometimes identified as Neighborhood Distribution Centers (NDC).
PODs are the primary tool used by the Sedgwick County Health Department to get appropriate medicines and information to the public in the most efficient manner. This model only works with the help of volunteers. The videos below are training sessions on some of the various roles a POD volunteer might be assigned.
