Public Health Preparedness

The health department provides protection from health problems and hazards by investigating infectious diseases and responding to public health threats, including:

Personal Preparedness

No matter what the event, you can take steps now to prepare yourself, your family and your co-workers for any type of emergency.

Point of Dispensing/Neighborhood Distribution Centers

Sedgwick County has identified multiple points of dispensing (PODs)  designed to give preventive medication to persons who are currently healthy but may have been “exposed” to a substance or disease. PODs are sometimes identified as neighborhood distribution centers (NDC).

Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

MRC is an organization of volunteers who assist professionals during public health emergencies.  You can get involved in MRC!
