Sedgwick County...working for you

County Manager

Manager's Message

April 24, 2015

This morning, we held the surprise at work for our 2015 Sedgwick County Excellence in Public Service winner.  This year’s recipient is Jill Tinsley (Communications), who was nominated by David Miller (DIO-IT) and Lindsay Poe-Rousseau (Budget).  Jill began her career in 2007 in the Budget Office after completing her Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) at Wichita State University.  In 2012, she was promoted to Community Relations Director, where she helps connect Sedgwick County to the community.  Jill leads the Sedgwick County United Way campaign, she coordinated an internal campaign to connect County staff with opportunities to improve student success, and this year took the lead role to coordinate elections logistics, assisting the Election Office for advance voting and elections support.

Outside of her County job, Jill is active in a number of community service organizations. She is an office holder on the Starkey, Inc. Board of Directors, and she recently led the effort to coordinate that organization's 2015 planning retreat. She also is active with the Arc of Sedgwick County, participating in fundraisers and events to increase awareness for individuals with disabilities. Most recently, Tinsley was a part of the Support Our Circle Walk for the Arc, held at the INTRUST Bank Arena.

This is the 28th year the DeVore Foundation has provided support for the Excellence in Public Service awards, providing recognition to a City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and USD 259 school district employee.
