(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County Commissioners have scheduled a Wednesday meeting for residents to ask questions and learn more about County Manager designee Tom Stolz. Commissioners will meet with residents from 5-6 p.m. at the Sedgwick County Zoo Cargill Learning Center, 5555 Zoo Blvd. Stolz will also attend to share his insights on moving Sedgwick County forward and take questions.
During its public meeting last week, the Board of County Commissioners voted to appoint Stolz as the Sedgwick County Manager, pending negotiation of a contract. Stolz was named Interim County Manager in December after serving as Deputy Manager since May 2017. He was promoted to Deputy Manager after serving as Assistant County Manager of Public Safety, Code Enforcement and Emergency Management since August 2016. Prior to joining the County government, Stolz spent 31 years with the Wichita Police Department, retiring as deputy chief.
"This is an important decision for Sedgwick County and our community and as Commissioners we welcome the chance to discuss why we believe Tom Stolz is the right person for County Manager," said Chairman David Dennis. "It became clear in the discussion that Tom has earned the respect and support of the Commissioners. It was also clear from community and staff input over the past weeks and as a top candidate during the search process three years ago, that Tom has earned the respect and support of County staff, community leaders and anyone who has worked with him. Commissioners cited his proven track record of leadership, respect for people and process, his ability to bring solutions and the belief that he will provide the needed leadership and stability for the County at this important time."
