In honor of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, the Sedgwick County Division on Aging will hold an event to recognize local veteran volunteers who continue to serve their communities through the local RSVP program.

The event will be held this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Robert Dole VA Medical Center Auditorium, 5500 E. Kellogg Ave. County commissioners and manager Mike Scholes will attend along with other local dignitaries.

The RSVP program has been in Wichita for more than 40 years; Sedgwick County’s Division on Aging has sponsored the RSVP program since 2004. These volunteers support the community through a variety of activities such as regular visits with elderly citizens, meal delivery, Medicare counseling, and tax preparation. Sedgwick County RSVP volunteers provide support services to community organizations including the Robert Dole VA, the Airman and Family Readiness Center at McConnell Air Force Base, and the American Red Cross.
