Sedgwick County EMS will host an event celebrating survivors of sudden cardiac arrest on Wednesday, May 24. This event will bring together 12 former patients who suffered sudden cardiac arrest and were successfully resuscitated by local first responders. Survivors and their families will be reunited with the EMS paramedics, firefighters, and dispatchers who had a role in their survival. Cardiologist Dr. Wassim Shaheen will be the keynote speaker sharing his thoughts on the difference our EMS system makes in recognizing heart attacks and transporting patients to facilities with intervention capabilities. A reception will follow.
