Sedgwick County announces Eric Yost as County Counselor pending his resignation as 18 th Judicial District Judge. A start date has not been determined at this time. Yost currently serves as Discovery Judge within the Civil Department of the 18th Judicial District Court, for whom he has worked for eighteen years. He replaces County Counselor Rich Euson, who retired on March 23, 2015 after 34 years of service. Mike Pepoon and Jennifer Magana served as Acting County Counselor during the recruiting process.

Yost has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Wichita State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas.

As County Counselor, Yost will support and advise the Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners, the County Manager, the Legal Department and others as needed to provide legal advice and opinions on a wide variety of municipal laws. This position reports to the Board of County Commissioners and manages all legal affairs in which the County is involved.

Yost previously served eighteen years as District Judge for the 18th Judicial District Court. During his time on the bench, he served in every department of the 18th Judicial District, including being the as Presiding Judge of Domestic (2004-2005, and 2007), SEDGWICK COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS 525 N. MAIN SUITE 315 WICHITA, KANSAS 67203-3703 Presiding Judge of Criminal (2008), and as Probate Judge (2013). He also served as Discovery Judge, within the Civil Department (2001-2002, and 2014).

Prior to serving as judge, Yost served as a member of Kansas House of Representatives 1978 - 1982; Kansas Senate 1984 - 1992; and Senate Vice President 1988 – 1992.
