In conjunction with National HIV Testing Day (NHTD), which takes place each year on June 27, the Sedgwick County Health Department will be offering free conventional HIV testing on Wednesday, June 24 at the Main Clinic, 2716 W Central, Wichita, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

NHTD began in 1995 to promote HIV testing and early diagnosis in an effort to maximize testing opportunities. More than 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the U.S., and about one in seven of is unaware of their infection. With early diagnoses, individuals can be placed in treatment and care resulting in better health outcomes. Persons in treatment had a 96 percent reduction in transmission rate compared to persons not on treatment.
