(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – As of Monday, Feb. 3, the Sedgwick County Register of Deeds will begin using an upgraded online system to warn property owners of possible fraud. The free service, Property Fraud Alert, will notify subscribers each time a document, like a real estate deed, mortgage, lien or easement, is recorded with their name on it. While this does not prevent fraud from happening, it provides an early warning system for property owners to take action as quickly as possible. All too often, victims of mortgage fraud or identity theft are unaware their home or identity has been stolen.

Since Property Fraud Alert is replacing the current notification service, citizens will need to subscribe and customize how they want to receive their alerts - by email, text or a phone call. Visit Property Fraud Alert to sign up. For more information on other services offered by the Register of Deeds, visit Register of Deeds | Sedgwick County, Kansas.
