Presentation to include work-to-date

A second round of public meetings for the Arkansas River Crossing – 95 th Street South (ARC95) Study have been scheduled in Derby and Haysville. The transportation study is looking at the needs and feasibility of improving the 95 th Street corridor in southern Sedgwick County.

In Derby, the meeting will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, at The Pavilion, Madison Avenue Central Park, 512 E. Madison Avenue.

In Haysville, the meeting will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, at the Haysville Community Library, 210 S. Hays.

“We were pleased to have more than 130 people participate in the first round of meetings and I encourage people to come out again to hear about the plans, as well as provide more input – particularly for the area around K-15 and 95 th Street,” said Chairman Jim Howell, Sedgwick County Commission, whose district includes part of the corridor.

The K-15 intersection includes some of the more complex aspects of the study, as it includes the BNSF railroad tracks, which run parallel to the highway at the 95 th Street intersection. The complete study area encompasses 95 th Street South between Greenwich Road and Meridian Avenue. The initial focus for projects is on the section between Woodlawn Boulevard and Broadway Avenue.

“This is a long-range plan that examines potential improvements that can have real impact on the people who live and work in south Sedgwick County,” said Commissioner Tim Norton, whose district also is represented in the study area. “It is gratifying to hear from so many people on the pros and cons about improving transportation access along this corridor.”
