Sedgwick County Election Office Announces Winner of 2025 “I Voted” Sticker Contest

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater announced today that a senior from Valley Center High School won the student design contest for this year’s “I Voted” sticker. Madeline Smith’s colorful artwork depicts a plane flying into the sunset, with the words “I Voted in Sedgwick County” beneath it.

“Thousands of voters will now wear Madeline’s design on the sticker they get at the polls or with an advance ballot,” said Rainwater. “This contest is a fun way to get students involved in elections, even before some of them are old enough to vote!”

A panel of judges chosen from the community picked the winning artwork from 215 entries and awarded second place to Riley McAlister, an eighth-grade student at Derby North Middle School. Ruby Dalbom, a ninth-grade homeschool student at St. Michael’s Academy, took third place.

“We had so many wonderful designs submitted, almost twice as many as last year,” said Rainwater. “It was impressive to see the many creative ways students captured the spirit of Sedgwick County and our patriotic community. The judges had a tough job choosing the top three entries.”

The Election Commissioner introduced the winning student-artists and their designs at the April 2 Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) meeting. Their artwork will also be displayed on Sedgwick County Government’s social media pages and on the Sedgwick County Election Office website.

This was the second year for Sedgwick County’s “I Voted” sticker contest, open to local students in grades 6-12. The artwork submitted had to be original and non-partisan and incorporate the words, “I Voted in Sedgwick County.” For more on the contest and its rules, visit the Sedgwick County Election website at Election Office | Sedgwick County, Kansas.
