Due to extreme flooding in Texas from Hurricane Harvey four firefighters from Sedgwick County Fire District 1 will deploy to Texas along with area firefighters from Task Force 5, a joint effort coordinated by the State Fire Marshal.

The SCFD1 firefighters will deploy from Sedgwick County Aug. 30 through Sept. 5.

“I’m proud that Sedgwick County is able to participate in the response and rescue efforts in Texas,” said County Manager Mike Scholes. “It is our responsibility to help our neighbors in times of need.”

These firefighters will conduct search, rescue, and recovery of humans and animals in various Texas communities, search for people who may be injured or in need of medical attention, provide basic life support, and assist with the rescue efforts as necessary.

Sedgwick County will be reimbursed for services provided to Texas from the State of Kansas.
