This week approximately 230,000 Sedgwick County real estate property tax bills were mailed by a Sedgwick County vendor, Postal Presort, Inc. In the sorting process at Postal Presort, it has come to our attention that approximately 452 were addressed and delivered incorrectly. For example, one household may have received its tax bill and additional envelopes addressed to them with a different household bill inside.
The Sedgwick County Treasurer’s Office has worked with Postal Presort to isolate the problem to 452 bills, which primarily affect Cheney, Clearwater and Colwich. Postal Presort corrected the error and mailed new bills to affected households Tuesday evening.
“We work hard to ensure a smooth tax statement process and this is frustrating for our residents and for us,” said, Linda Kizzire, Sedgwick County Treasurer. “We will work with Postal Presort to ensure this doesn’t occur again.”
If a taxpayer should have any questions about their tax statement or not receiving a statement, they should call the Sedgwick County Call Center at 316-660-9000. First half tax payments are due December 22 as December 20 falls on a Saturday.
