Many residents throughout Sedgwick County were affected by last week’s strong winds, resulting in large amounts of tree and brush debris. To assist residents with cleanup Sedgwick County has set up a tree debris burn site at 63rd

Street South and Meridian (Big Ditch). The site will open at 1 p.m. July 3 for Sedgwick County residents, cities, townships, and businesses free of charge. Sedgwick County Public Works will have tree debris and a loader on site to help people locate the site.

The burn site will remain available throughout the month of July, including the July 4th holiday. Currently debris is being collected and the actual burning of debris will be determined at a future date.

The burn site is intended for tree and brush debris only. Fences, structure remains, bulky waste, and all other trash will not be accepted. Citizens may take all other trash to one of two transfer stations in Sedgwick County: Waste Connections on the northwest corner of 37th Street North and West Street and Waste Disposal, LLC on the northeast corner of 55th Street South and Hoover. Fees may apply and be prepared to pay with cash.
