(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Two Wichita churches that will serve as Election Day polling sites on Nov. 5, 2024, recently changed their names, so Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater is notifying voters assigned to these locations. Letters mailed in early October and ongoing social media posts are letting voters know that Northwest Christian Church, 10850 W. 21st. St., is now Refuge Church, and West Side Church of God, 1900 W. McCormick St., is now Redeemer Church. Yard signs at the polling sites on Election Day will also make voters aware.
“The name change doesn’t affect the voting process at all,” said Rainwater. “Voters will still go to the same assigned polling sites, but they’ll see the former church names on the ballots because they were finalized back in September.”
Voters will also see the former church names if they check their assigned polling place and view a sample ballot at Kansas Secretary of State | VoterView.
