(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Road work to improve the shoulders and ditches along two miles of Ridge Road in northwest Sedgwick County is entering a new phase, so drivers in the area should expect detours, starting April 11, 2025.

Only southbound traffic will be allowed on Ridge Road from 53rd to 61st Street North. Northbound traffic on Ridge Road will detour west at 53rd Street North to Tyler Road. Drivers will then head north to 61st Street and back east to Ridge Road. Signs are posted in the area to direct drivers. The detour will continue until the project’s completion by the end of June, weather permitting.

“This road work started back in November, and I know it’s been an inconvenience for drivers in the area,” said County Engineer Lynn Packer, Director of Sedgwick County Public Works. “But I’m confident those who use this section of Ridge Road on a regular basis will appreciate the additional safety provided by the wider shoulders.”
