Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
What is the purpose of PREA?
PREA is intended to increase safety through education, engagement, enforcement and the elimination of dangerous and harmful behaviors. PREA applies to all residential centers or confinement facilities. This includes all the Sedgwick County Department of Corrections adult and juvenile facilities or programs.

Persons interested in volunteering at the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention or Residential Facility and/or contractors working in the secure area of the facility are required to watch the PREA video. After viewing the video, you will be required to review the PREA policy, complete a short quiz and sign the PREA Acknowledgment form at your program.
