2021 Recommended Budget
On July 15, the County Manager presented his 2021 Recommended Budget of $457,628,810. This budget was formulated under exceptional and unprecedented circumstances due to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic. Estimated assessed valuation growth in Sedgwick County is 4.64 percent and 2.47 percent in Fire District 1. Property tax rates are estimated to be 29.359 mills for Sedgwick County and 17.889 mills for Fire District 1. The Recommended Budget is mostly flat with the 2020 budget and was adjusted to address the economic impacts while maintaining a prudent fund balance and preserving service levels. Commissioners voted on the 2021 budget on August 12 after holding two public hearings (July 22 at 9 a.m. and August 10 at 6 p.m.) and an online public budget forum.
