MRC volunteers are asked to contribute a minimum of 4 hours per year in a non-emergency activity.
Events/Activities
Medical Reserve Corps volunteers will be available as “ambassadors” for public health in the community. Volunteers may assist with events and activities such as:
- Flu clinics
- Taking patient medical history and vitals
- Children’s health screenings
- Health Fairs
- Immunization campaigns
- Medical records and supplies
- Helping patients get prescription medications
- Interpretation/Translation
- Dental Clinic
Education
Volunteers can also provide community and patient education on a variety of health-related topics:
- Diabetes education
- Smoking cessation
- Prescription drug education
- Maintaining healthy weight
- Mental health issues
- Patient education on specific health programs
- Good hand washing, dental hygiene, and nutrition
- Emergency preparedness
- Other specialized topics based on volunteer expertise
