MRC volunteers are asked to contribute a minimum of 4 hours per year in a non-emergency activity.

Events/Activities

Medical Reserve Corps volunteers will be available as “ambassadors” for public health in the community. Volunteers may assist with events and activities such as:

  • Flu clinics
  • Taking patient medical history and vitals
  • Children’s health screenings
  • Health Fairs
  • Immunization campaigns
  • Medical records and supplies
  • Helping patients get prescription medications
  • Interpretation/Translation
  • Dental Clinic

Education

Volunteers can also provide community and patient education on a variety of health-related topics:

  • Diabetes education
  • Smoking cessation
  • Prescription drug education
  • Maintaining healthy weight
  • Mental health issues
  • Patient education on specific health programs
  • Good hand washing, dental hygiene, and nutrition
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Other specialized topics based on volunteer expertise
