Streams are among the most important natural resources in Kansas. Streams, and the natural corridors along them, provide a number of important environmental services that contribute to making our region a quality place to live. You can help improve the integrity of our streams with these simple tips:

  1. Avoid mowing within 10 – 25 feet of the edge of a stream.
  2. Plant native plants, grasses, trees and bushes along the bank.
  3. Keep litter and trash out of streams.

Whether you have a stream running through your backyard, business, local school, or park, protecting our streams is a good idea.
