Community Liaison Unit
The primary mission of the unit is to provide educational programs for the public to reduce crime through prevention. The Community Liaison Unit also represents the sheriff’s office at community functions such as parades, festivals, and neighborhood association meetings.

Crime Prevention - Seniors
This program teaches the seniors in our community how to avoid becoming a victim of violence, abuse, scams, and frauds. The program also provides tips on home and travel security measures that the elderly can use to stay safe at all times. Fears are addressed and open communication is encouraged. Geared towards adults.

D.A.R.E.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) – D.A.R.E. is being taught to county elementary schools located within the Sedgwick County area. This is a very comprehensive 10-week course which the students are taught skills to resist drugs and alcohol while learning self-esteem and how to deal with peer pressure. Geared towards 5th grade students. .
Patrol Vehicle Display
Patrol vehicles are used in a variety of ways. They are used in parades and then put on display at several different events.
Deputy Dan
Deputy Dan is the mascot of the Sedgwick County Sheriff Office. He is used in a variety of programs, from parades to special appearances, such as hospital visitations. To request Deputy Dan for an event. Please email Deputy Converse or Deputy Narvais
Drug Awareness
This program is taught to help familiarize and inform students about the harmful affects of different types of drugs. Power point is used. Geared toward 9th to 12th grade students it can also be used for adults.
FOR SUPERVISION – A program to familiarize individuals with drugs, and other substances that bring about physical, emotional and/ or mental changes in people. This program will help supervisors recognize systems or signs of substance abuse in their employees. Geared towards adults.
D.U.I. (Drive Under Influence)
The purpose of this program is to educate High School Drivers Ed students and others of the hazards involved with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. A graphic color slide presentation is used that was put together by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office depicting local fatal traffic accidents. This program creates a sobering effect upon attending individuals causing them to seriously consider the possible consequences of future driving habits. Geared towards 9th through 12th grade students.
Hospital Visitation Program
A program utilizing Deputy Dan and uniformed Sheriff’s Deputies. This program is designed to bring cheer to hospitalized children while establishing a better relationship with law enforcement. Geared towards children of all ages.
Leaders, Achievers, Winners (LAW) Camp
This program creates a partnership between law enforcement and youth by providing a positive experience using law enforcement personnel as role models, building self-esteem, confidence, and trust by involving the participants in activities that stimulates their interest.
