On March 6th, 2019, at approximately 7:09 a.m., Sedgwick County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to 13500 W. 71st Street South for an injury accident. Sheriff deputies arrived at approximately 7:21 a.m. 

The deputies learned the following information:

A silver Toyota Corolla was headed south on 135th Street West when a white Ford Expedition travelling eastbound on 71st Street South, failed to stop at the stop sign. The Ford struck the Toyota.

The Toyota was driven by a 14 year old white female. The Toyota had 3 other occupants. The front seat passenger was a 39 year old white female. The rear seat passengers were a 17 year old male and 12 year old male. The 12 year old was taken by ambulance to Wesley Hospital with critical injuries. All other occupants were taken by ambulance to St. Francis. At this time, the 12 year old is still in critical condition.

The Ford was driven by a 21 year old black female. The Ford had 4 other occupants. The other occupants were a 14 year old white male, 12 year old white female, a 5 year old white female, and 2 year old white male. All of the occupants were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital.

At this time the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary results show the driver of the Ford became distracted and did not stop at the

stop sign.
