Sedgwick County, KS – This Thanksgiving, make occupant protection part of your tradition. Starting on November 21, 2024, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will join law enforcement agencies across Kansas, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, in the state’s THANKSGIVING SAFE ARRIVAL traffic enforcement campaign.

From November 21 through December 1, law enforcement will be focusing on ensuring all drivers and passengers are buckled up. While all traffic laws will be enforced, extra emphasis will be placed on occupant protection—because wearing a seatbelt can make the difference between life and death in a crash.

“As we approach the busy Thanksgiving travel period, we want to remind everyone: Buckling up is your best defense on the road,” said Sheriff Jeff Easter. “It’s not just the law, it’s a life-saving habit. This year, let’s make sure that everyone gets to their destination safely.”

The Sheriff’s Office will be actively educating the public about the importance of seatbelt use through the campaign, underscoring the message that BUCKLING UP SAVES LIVES.

The THANKSGIVING SAFE ARRIVAL campaign is supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and is part of a statewide effort to reduce crashes and fatalities during the holiday season.

Stay safe and enjoy your holiday travels—remember, safety starts with a seatbelt.
