On the morning of October 31st, 2018, a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested by officers of the Bel Aire Police Department at his home while off duty. The arrest was the result of an investigation into a disturbance at the residence, and the deputy was booked in to jail. The deputy, Raymond Paredes, has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for approximately 3 years.
The specific allegation is KSA 21-5414 (a) (1): “knowingly or recklessly causing bodily harm to a person with whom the offender is involved or has been involved in a dating relationship or a family or household member”.
In addition to the criminal case, an investigation is also being conducted by the Professional Standards Unit of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy was placed on Administrative Leave pending the results of the internal investigation.
