Detention Academy Graduation Announcement 4/11/2019

The Wichita/Sedgwick County Law Enforcement Training Center proudly announces the graduation ceremony for the 2019 Winter Detention Academy Class of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.  The commencement will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Douglas Avenue Assembly of God. This is located at 4501 W. Douglas Ave. Wichita, KS. 67209 

Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter will welcome 18 new deputies to the Sheriff’s Office. This transition comes after completing 11 weeks of basic academy training which included such topics as interpersonal communication, policy and procedure, legal issues, computer training, and defensive tactics.  After graduation the recruits will begin several weeks of field training where they will work as partners with veteran deputies in the detention facility.  

A reception for the graduates, family members, friends, and honored guests will follow the ceremony.
