Late last week the Sheriff’s Office received information concerning a detention deputy bringing contraband into the Detention Facility. The Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office investigated the complaint. During the investigation, detectives discovered the detention deputy was also involved in an incident of neglect of an inmate. Both allegations were investigated and it was determined enough probable cause exists to arrest the detention deputy for one count of Mistreatment of a Confined Person and one count of Trafficking Contraband.

The Detention Deputy, David Cameron, began employment with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2019 and has been placed on unpaid suspension.
