The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office received information concerning a Detention Deputy being involved in illegal activity. The Investigation’s Division, as well as the Professional Standards Unit, investigated the complaint. During the investigation, Detectives determined enough probable cause existed to arrest the Detention Deputy for three felony charges in regards to unlawful acts concerning computers (21-5839.A.3): knowingly exceeding the limits of authorization and damage, modify, alter, destroy, copy, disclose or take possession of a computer, computer system, computer network or any other property. The Detention Deputy was booked on March 9, 2023.
The Detention Deputy, Victor Garcia, began employment with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2015. He has been placed on suspension without pay, pending the outcome of judicial proceedings.

This case will be presented to the District Attorney for review for the requested charges of three felony counts of: Computer Unlawful Acts; Access to Defraud or Obtain Money/ Property/ Services.
