Helicopter Crash 7.5.24
On July 5th, 2024 at approximately 0805, Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received a report of an aircraft crash southwest of the city of Andale.
Emergency Services units found a helicopter had crashed in a field west of 255th St West and north of 53rd street North.
The aircraft registration identified it as a Scorpion 133 helicopter, a homebuilt aircraft. There was a single occupant, believed to be the pilot, located in the helicopter who was pronounced deceased on the scene. All indications are that the pilot was the registered owner of the aircraft, a Sedgwick County resident, male, born in 1954. A positive identification is pending.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Traffic Safety Board are investigating the incident.
