A Sedgwick County inmate was transported to a local hospital by EMS on January 29, 2024 due to chronic medical problems. The 36 year old man was being evaluated by the Detention Facility Medical Clinic for the past three years after reporting difficulties with his chronic medical issues to jail medical staff. He was hospitalized for a total of 25 times since his arrest. He was hospitalized 8 times in 2023.

The hospital staff had been attempting to treat him, but his condition had a very small chance of survival. Based on medical advice, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office contacted the inmate’s family and made accommodations for them to visit the inmate on February 8th. He was pronounced deceased on February 11, 2024 at 1725 hours. The inmates identity is being withheld at the request of his family. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Investigation Division were notified.

He was booked into the Sedgwick County Detention Facility on October 30, 2020 on felony charges of Criminal Sodomy, Aggravated Indecent Liberties and Sexual Exploitation of a child.
