National School Bus Safety Week October 21st through October 25th.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Wichita Police Department, Maize Police Department, and Haysville Police Department will be working a special bus stop sign violations project, in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

The enforcement will take place during National School Bus Safety Week, which is October 21st through October 25th. During the school bus safety campaign, deputies will each ride a school bus that has been designated as having the highest recorded violations on its route. Deputies assigned to a school bus will communicate to law enforcement personnel positioned in the area. Any person observed committing a traffic violation will be cited.

We are asking for the public’s assistance with this safety campaign. We are asking the public to be aware of school crossings and student drop off locations. Drivers can expect strict enforcement of school bus related traffic violations.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a joint press conference with the Wichita Police Department, Maize Police Department, and Haysville Police Department, on October 18th, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at Central and Main in Wichita, Kansas.
