During the process of testing for COVID in the detention facility last month 26 deputies tested positive for COVID. One deputy was hospitalized for COVID. All positive deputies are now off of quarantine.

As of this time all inmates who tested positive for COVID in August are now considered recovered based on CDC recommendations. There are currently no known positives in the detention facility. No inmate deaths from COVID occurred and no inmates were hospitalized solely because of COVID.

After reviewing the process of mass testing and consulting with our onsite medical vendor we have moved to a non-test based strategy in our detention facilities, based on CDC Guidelines. Incoming inmates are being placed in quarantine areas before moving to general population. Based on COVID screenings and/or reports of symptoms, inmates are tested by the medical provider. If necessary these tested inmates are medially isolated as determined by the medical provider.

We are continuing to maintain sanitization standards to take care of our staff and inmates which include issuing extra soap, and having disinfectant available as needed. All staff members have been issued masks to wear, and all inmates have been issued face coverings for the last several months. We also have a full medical staff on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The safety and health of our staff, community and inmates is paramount.
