In a response to growing public health concerns related to COVID-19, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has made modifications for the following services to the community:
Concealed Carry Applications:
Starting January 12th, 2022, at 08:00 a.m. through January 31st, 2022, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will not be collecting fingerprints for concealed carry applications or class III weapon applications. All fingerprinting has been temporarily suspended. All applicants should expect delays with their applications.
Employment/Background Fingerprinting:
Starting January 12th, 2022, at 08:00 a.m. through January 31st, 2022, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will not be collecting fingerprints for employment purposes. Fingerprinting for employment or for background information has been temporarily suspended.
M-O-R-E
Offender Registration:
Starting January 12th, 2022, at 08:00 a.m. through January 31st, 2022, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will be contacting offenders by telephone to complete their registrations. Kansas Statue allows offenders one phone registration a year. The offender registrations will still be entered into Offender Watch and sent to the KBI.
We understand that not all registrations will be able to be conducted by telephone. Offenders that are registering for the first time and transient offenders will still have to register at the Offender Registration Unit.
The associated fees with registration for the month of January will be collected at their next in person registration. If the Offenders have any questions, they can contact the Offender Registration Unit at (316) 660-3939.
If citizens are concerned about offenders in their neighborhoods, we encourage them to check the Offender Watch website at www.sedgwickcounty.org/offender-search.
These changes take effect at 8:00 a.m. January 12, 2022. These modifications will be in place through January 31st, 2022. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will re-assess the situation at that time.
We recognize this may be inconvenient for people, but we ask the citizens for their understanding and patience in this continuously evolving health concern. Our top priority is the health and safety of our community.
