From Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23, deputies from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office joined law enforcement officers from six Midwestern states in an effort to reduce disabling injuries and deaths due to speed, non-restraint use, and impaired or distracted driving. Law enforcement officers were on the roadways in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma to aggressively enforce traffic laws.

During that time period, deputies in Sedgwick County issued 77 traffic citations, 22 of which were for speeding and 2 were for seat belt violations. Additionally, deputies made 10 felony arrests, 5 drug arrests, and 6 DUI arrests. Deputies also worked 13 vehicle crashes, 5 of which were speed related.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office continues to emphasize the dangers of speeding on our roadways. Speeding drivers put themselves, their passengers, and other drivers at tremendous risk.

This safety effort was conducted during the normal course of duty and was not supported by any grant.
