Commercial Vehicle Registration Changes
As of January 1, 2014, both interstate and intrastate commercial vehicles (farm vehicles not included) are required to pay−in addition to annual registration fees− an annual commercial vehicle fee, in lieu of the current property tax. Tag Renewals
Vehicle tag renewals are due by the last day of this month for residents whose last names begin with the letter:

Operators of non-farm, commercial motor vehicles whose tags must be renewed by Friday, Feb. 28, will not be charged a late fee if their vehicles are registered by March 1.Vehicle Inspections
KHP VIN (vehicle) inspections are done by an appointment only. You can make an appointment by scanning the QR code below or visit the website: kansashighwaypatrol.gov. For customers without a smart phone, you can call (316) 337-7418
If the vehicle you purchased is BRAND NEW and has NEVER BEEN TITLED, it does not need a VIN inspection. The signed manufacturer’s statement/certificate of origin (MSO/MCO) you receive from the dealership at the time of purchase will suffice.
1) Main Tag Office located at 2525 W. Douglas, Wichita, Ks. 67213 (a separate entrance located adjacent to the Main Tag Office entrance) At this location, Out-of-State titles, requiring inspection which are "clean", meaning, NOT (“Salvage”, “Rebuilt Salvage”, using an affidavit, bill of sale, quiet-titles, or non-highway) are done.
2) 1900 E. Tigua (Kechi) HWY 254 and Rock Rd. (316) 337-7418
Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
All Titles* requiring an inspection will be performed at this Kansas Highway Patrol inspection office:
*This does include, but is not limited to; any title, Kansas or Out-of-State, with the branding of “Salvage”, “Rebuilt Salvage”, using an affidavit, bill of sale, quiet-titles, or non-highway.

Vehicle Inspection Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Title work is NOT accepted after 4 p.m.
A $5.00 fee will be applied to each transaction handled at any of the tag offices.
The Douglas office offers the following services:

- Temporary and Permanent disabled placards/plates
- Replacement plates/decals
- Duplicate registration
- Commercial work at fleet and dealers
- KHP is located at this location for vehicle inspections (no salvage or bill of sale inspections will be done at Douglas)
Kellogg Tag Office:

County Holidays
Sedgwick County tag offices will be closed on all observed holidays and on Columbus Day (October 14, 2024) for internal training.
Auto Tag Registration Violation Complaint
To report a violation of state law pertaining to the registration of a vehicle by a resident of Sedgwick County please complete the Auto Tag Registration Violation Complaint form. Once completed and submitted the information you provide will be sent directly to the Sheriff's Office for investigation. You may remain anonymous if you desire, however providing your information will assist deputies if additional information is required for their investigation. All information you provide will be kept confidential.
