Board of County Commissioners

  • Commissioners held the first public hearing for the 2018 Sedgwick County Budget.
  • An agreement for emergency ambulance services in the City of Wichita was approved by commissioners.
    • The Wichita city council approved the agreement yesterday, July 18.
  • Commissioners approved a grant ($2.97 million) for the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) area plan. This funding will assist the Sedgwick County Division on Aging.
  • A grant ($285,181) for the continuation of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force was approved. Funding is from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
  • Amendments to the Wichita – Sedgwick County Comprehensive Plan were approved.
    • The plan includes expanded urban growth areas for Garden Plain, Mount Hope, and Mulvane.

Division of Finance – 2018 Budget

  • Members of the public may comment on the recommended budget online here.
  • A social media town hall on the budget will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at 2 p.m.
  • A second budget hearing will be held Monday, July 31 at 6 p.m. in the commission meeting room at 525 N. Main.
  • Budget adoption is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2.

  • INTRUST Bank Arena will host Paul McCartney’s One on One tour today. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Remember that the facility’s new security measures will be in place for this event.
