Dear Potential Volunteer,

Sedgwick County would first like to thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Department of Public Services. Your willingness to volunteer is extremely appreciated and we look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for you. At Sedgwick County, we welcome volunteers and consider them to be part of our team. We plan to take full advantage of your offer to help by utilizing the unique skills that you are so kindly willing to share with us. In order for us to best match our volunteers with current available volunteer positions, there are a few things that we will need from you. Below you will find the following DPS volunteer documents and available open positions:

Please review these documents carefully and fill them out to the best of your ability. Please sign each document where indicated and return to Contract Administrator, COMCARE Administration Office, 934 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67203 or via email at Talaya.Schwartz@sedgwick.gov. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call Talaya Schwartz at 316-660-7612. Once all the required documents have been received, it will take approximately two weeks for you to hear something back from the accepting program within the Department of Public Services.

COM – CCC - 101 NAMI Facilitator at the CCC COMCARE Community Crisis Center (635 N. Main Street, Wichita, KS 67203) The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) facilitator provides information, referrals and support to friends, family members and concerned others whose loved one is experiencing a crisis. NAMI Facilitators are trained and recommended by NAMI Wichita Chapter prior to volunteering at the Community Crisis Center (CCC). Two NAMI volunteer facilitators provide support at the CCC twice monthly on Thursdays evenings from 7-9pm on a rotating basis.
DOH – CHA – 2017 Community Health Advocates Division of Health (1900 E. 9th Street, Wichita, KS 67214) Community Health Advocates are volunteers who provide access to affordable health care information to Sedgwick County residents. Advocates go into the community at the neighborhood, church and other civic organization levels with health access information and health education materials.
COM - CS - 201 Lobby Friend COMCARE Children's Services - East Building (350 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS) The Lobby Friend volunteer will provide support to individuals seeking services at Children’s Services during times of high traffic. The primary task for the volunteer would include engaging children and adults waiting in the lobby for their scheduled appointment times. Examples of activities of engagement may include, but are not limited to, playing games, reading books, or coloring with children, and having cordial conversations with adults. The volunteer should expect to support the clinician during intake sessions when multiple children attend the appointment by engaging the additional children in activities on occasion. It is anticipated that the volunteers should be available one or more of the following days and times: Tuesday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
COM - MR - 101 Medical Record Volunteer COMCARE Medical Records - Community Support Services (1929 W. 21 Street N., Wichita, KS) COMCARE Medical Records is looking for a volunteer 2-3 days a week to help scan in paper charts. Individual would be working in a quite environment at a desk. Individual would need to follow strict HIPAA guidelines and have some computer based knowledge. Duties: Break down paper charts by removing paper clip, staples, etc. Stack each chart appropriately. Scan each chart separately into computer. Time: 2-3 day per week for 3-4 hours a day; morning or afternoon
