Fire Chief Douglas J. Williams began his fire service career with the Sedgwick County Fire District 1 in February 1988. Over a span of 30 years Chief Williams has served in the capacity of Firefighter, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Fire Division Chief, and Fire Chief. Prior to becoming the Fire Chief, Chief Williams served as a Division Chief in Operations where he was responsible for all aspects of fire suppression and daily station/shift operations. As Fire Chief, Chief Williams is responsible for the effective, efficient and legal conduct of the department. Chief Williams plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the administration, prevention and operational activities of the department. Chief Williams is a graduate of the National Fire Academy, where he completed his Executive Fire Officer and Chief Fire Officer certification.
