In order to provide an efficient system for building access in emergency situations, Sedgwick County Fire District 1 requires a Rapid Entry Key Box for new, remodeled and existing buildings and properties with the exception of single family dwellings in our response area. For buildings and properties in the city limits of Wichita please contact Wichita Fire Department.
Instant fire department access without damaging the door or building.
The Kidde Rapid Entry System is designed to help fire departments and businesses work together to preserve lives and property. It eliminates the need for fire department officials to maintain and carry cumbersome key rings with hundreds of building keys.
How to acquire a Rapid Entry Box:
Step 1: Go to the Kidde/Lockbox Company Website and, in the upper right, select Sign In or Create an Account.
Step 2: Once you've logged in to their website, enter "Sedgwick County Fire" in the organization/fire department search field. After selecting "Sedgwick County Fire", complete your lock box selection and purchase. Have the box shipped to your location.
Step 3: The box will be in the open position when you receive it. After it is installed, please contact Sedgwick County Fire District 1, by phone at 316-660-3473 or by email at scfd@sedgwick.gov, so we can send a fire crew out to your facility to secure the building keys inside the box. The key, which is used by us to open the lock box, cannot be duplicated by anyone other than the manufacture.
